Thanks fans for a great St. Patrick's Day 2008!

Uniform and Instrument Requirements

Below you will find a list uniform and instrument requirements for performing with the band.  Because visual presentation is almost as important as the music we generate, please make every effort to acquire the needed uniform items and keep everything clean and in good repair.

Many bands provide uniform items (and some instrument items) to their performers.  As our band is still young and without sponsors, each performing member is responsible for their own uniforms and instruments.  However, when you perform with the band, you will receive an equal portion of the band performance fees to offset what you've had to spend on equipment and uniforms.

Uniform Requirements (Minimum)

  • Kilt - clean and sharp (MacFarlane Modern Red or a tartan of your choosing)
  • Day Sporran (plain black leather)
  • Belt - Black Leather
  • Band Polo Shirt (when available)
  • White dress shirts (1. long sleeve; 2. short sleeve (rolled up sleeves are acceptable))
  • Tie (Black)
  • Black Ghillie Brogues or Dress Shoes - clean and shined
  • Hose, 2 pair (1. White for day wear; 2. Black or Complimentary color to your kilt tartan for evening wear)
  • Flashes (red or complimentary color to your kilt tartan
  • Glengarry
  • Rain Cape

(Optional for most performances, may be required for formal engagements)

  • Black Jacket (style of your choice)
  • Bow Tie - Black

Instrument Requirements for Pipers

  • Bagpipes in good working order
  • MacLellan CD-B pipe chanter.  Tuned A = 474Hz.  If you can tune an existing chanter to match the band chanters, you are welcome to do so.  However, this should be a temporary solution and you should try to get a matching MacLellan chanter as soon as possible.

Instrument Requirements for Drummers

  • Drum and carrier in good working order, clean, and tuned. Brand/style/model is at the discretion of the performer.
  • Clean drum heads
  • Appropriate sticks or mallets
