Guest Tutors Sought - Click Here

Welcome to the Clear Lake Pipe Band website.  CLPB was established in December of 2006 under the direction of Pipe Major Brian Berlin and Instructor Bill "Robbie" Robertson (1941 - 2007).  From the beginning, the focus of the band was on making the music of the bagpipes accessible to as many people who wanted to learn as possible.  We encourage students to grow into top-notch musicians while never losing sight on the fact that playing a musical instrument should be fun and enjoyable (for the musician as well as the audience).

If you are interested in joining the band (either as an experienced musician or as a student), please contact us.

If you are an experienced instructor of piping or drumming and will be in the Houston, we would love to bring you in and share your knowledge with an eager-to-learn group of students.

Pipers for Hire

We are frequently asked if the band or individual pipers are available for hire to play at funerals, weddings, and other events.  The answer is YES.  The next question we usually hear is "how much does it cost?"  The answer is "it depends". But to give you a ball park figure, expect to spend about $250 plus travel (if the distance is great) to hire an individual piper for an average event.  Expect prices to hire the entire band to start around $500.  These are just ballpark estimates.  We've played for less and we've played for more.  So call us and let us know what you'd like.

Don't Forget TAPS
When people are making funeral arrangements for a veteran, they sometimes forget to make sure that a live bugler will be available to sound TAPS.  We can provide a live rendering of TAPS, if desired.  You can also visit to Bugles Across America to request a volunteer bugler to play TAPS

YOU DON'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO YOU: DIGITAL TAPS GONE WRONG VIDEO (the batteries die).

PIPERS & DRUMMERS INVITED

If you play the bagpipes or drums, or are interested in learning, we are looking for you!
We offer free bagpipe and drum lessons to those who will commit to play with the band.

Prior musical training is helpful but not necessary. Initial expenses are minimal.
